Research Visit at the Cognitive Developmental Robotics Lab, The University of Tokyo

I would like to sincerely thank Prof. Yukie Nagai and the Cognitive Developmental Robotics Lab at the International Research Center for Neurointelligence, The University of Tokyo, for the warm hospitality and the inspiring research visit. During my stay, I had the opportunity to engage in insightful discussions with lab members and to exchange ideas on current challenges and future directions in tactile perception, embodied robot learning, human-robot interaction, and cognitive development.

I also had the chance to present my research at the Friday seminar on 14 November 2025, where I presented our work on tactile perception, including the projects ACROSS, Vibrosense, and ROMEO, in the presentation titled “Towards Dexterous Manipulation: From Teleoperation to Autonomous Learning.”

Participation: 15th Brazilian-German Frontiers of Science and Technology (BRAGFOST) Symposium

Participant in the 15th Brazilian-German Frontiers of Science and Technology (BRAGFOST) Symposium funded by the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES) and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.

The Symposium will be held at Mannheim, Germany between the 6th to the 9th of November 2025. For more information on the workshop, click here.

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation regularly convenes bi- and tri-national Frontiers of Research Symposia in cooperation with its partner organizations in Brazil, China, Japan, India, Israel, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.

The Frontiers of Research Symposia provide outstanding young researchers from Germany and partner countries with a platform for an international and interdisciplinary knowledge exchange. The participating researchers establish or strengthen connections with other future thought leaders, often pioneering innovative fields for collaboration. Participants question and expand the boundaries of their respective disciplines – for example, through cross-disciplinary discussions of current advancements, innovative research, and emerging opportunities. The German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space supports the Frontiers of Research program.

Up to 60 researchers from engineering and the applied natural sciences meet every year to challenge the boundaries of their fields. Nominated and funded by CAPES and the Humboldt Foundation, they establish new collaborations across their disciplines.

Research visit at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev

I am grateful for the opportunity to spend a one-week research visit at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Be’er Sheva, Israel, from 24th to 30th October 2025. Hosted by Prof. Ilana Nisky within the vibrant research environment of her lab, this visit was generously funded by the International Senior Academic Faculty Visits Program at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.

During my stay, I engaged in stimulating discussions with several faculty members and researchers, exploring shared interests in haptics, tactile perception, and human–robot interaction. These exchanges provided valuable feedback on ongoing work and opened up promising avenues for future collaboration. In addition to the academic program, there was also time for informal conversations and leisure activities in and around Be’er Sheva, which made the visit both scientifically productive and personally enriching.

As part of the visit, I had the honor to present our current research on tactile perception, including results from the ACROSS, ROMEO, and Vibrosense projects, at the ABC Robotics Seminar Series at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev on the 27th of October 2025. In my talk, entitled “Towards Dexterous Manipulation: From Teleoperation to Autonomous Learning”, I discussed how advanced tactile sensing and learning-based methods can support more robust and adaptive manipulation skills in robots. For more information on the ABC Robotics Seminar Series, please visit the official seminar page on the Ben-Gurion University website.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to Prof. Ilana Nisky for the kind invitation and warm hospitality, to all colleagues at Ben-Gurion University for the inspiring conversations, and to the International Senior Academic Faculty Visits Program for making this visit possible. I am very much looking forward to continuing our collaboration in the future.
